This page covers how to salvage IR sensors from old VCR's and connect them to the Stamp,
or a PC parallel port. A Universal Remote can be used with these sensors to provide remote control input to
the Stamp. Or use a simple 555 timer and IR LED to provide the input signal to the IR sensor.
These are some photos of the IR Transmitter, Receiver, and the Transmitter perfboard circuit.
This is the schematic of the IR Led Transmitter. It is powered by a 9 volt battery. The IR Led was salvaged from an old television remote. The 555 timer is adjusted for a 40 kHz output.
